Local volunteer networks throughout the world are the foundation of our organization. Through local area coordinators we mentor and assist in the development of sustainable networks, offering guidance and expertise for project selection and implementation. GFSC also provides:
- a forum for exchanging experiences and knowledge,
- information about projects,
- assistance in the selection and preparation of potential volunteers,
- contacts with other interested community organizations and supporters.
GFSC volunteers can take advantage of the GFSC mentoring program reviewing basic information, and continuing with an area of specialization that would meet area needs and volunteer expertise, building community and institutional capacity in:
- conflict resolution,
- crisis and disaster intervention,
- NGO organizational development and
- sustainable community development
