Mentored Pathways

The success of GFSC depends on the professional quality of our volunteers. Mentored Pathways™ is the GFSC program to assure consistent service delivery around the world. The Mentored Pathways™ program guides volunteers through the steps and materials that enhance their skills in the GFSC areas of specialization.

Click here for a diagram and more detailed explanation of the Mentored Pathways™ program.

All volunteers complete the general orientation module.

Field volunteers then complete a basic module (reviewing facilitator competencies) and may select one (or more) areas of specialization (to integrate their knowledge and experience as applied to the GFSC areas of specialization). Field Volunteers are professionals who have had substantial training and experience in facilitation of group processes and who work directly in projects through a Local Network.

To assure that GFSC volunteers are all at an expected level of skill and expertise, Field Volunteers review the appropriate materials in the Mentored Pathways program. They participate in a variety of GFSC offerings, including (but not limited to) workshops, online conferences and discussions. Much of the time communications are "virtual" (email, chat room, etc.) and some of the time, face-to-face communications (workshops, meetings with Local Volunteer Networks, etc.).

GFSC Mentors-Facilitators are Field Volunteers with experience in one or several areas of GFSC services and workshops, who would like to mentor other Field Volunteers. In addition to their experience and continued participation in the Mentored Pathways program, they review materials and guidelines devoted to the mentoring process.

Volunteer facilitators access materials via GFSC website and work virtually and/or face-to-face with a GFSC Mentor. More than twenty leading researchers and authors* in facilitation around the world have agreed to share their publications as a part of the Mentored Pathways™ program.

If you would like to volunteer with GFSC, the first step is completing the Volunteer Form.

Those GFSC volunteers who are in the Mentored Pathways™ program can sign up with Facilitator U at no charge, thanks to Steve Davis. There you will have access to a complete virtual library of facilitation information to complement your knowledge of tools and techniques. Steve is a welcome resource supporting GFSC and our Mentored Pathways™ process.
