Board of Directors

Our dedicated Board brings a wealth of experience and commitment to supporting facilitators who help communities strengthen their resilience and self-reliance.

Lenny Diamond
Throughout his career, Lenny has orchestrated organizational climates characterized by empowerment, participation, open communication and trust with a strong sense of team and client orientation. His efforts lead to heightened levels of staff confidence, satisfaction, morale and productivity. Lenny's leadership experience includes more than 20 years in a variety of corporate settings including information technology, finance, investment research, portfolio management and strategic planning.

Lenny specializes in creating programs for groups and individuals in or emerging from transition, to develop or reinforce team work, to strengthen leadership effectiveness, to leverage differences in the organization, to create effective communication systems and channels and to facilitate strategic planning initiatives.

Lenny holds a BS in Business Administration from Ithaca College. His post graduate education includes courses and seminars in leadership, effective management techniques, human relations, information systems and experiential programming.

Lenny is is a member of the International Association of Facilitators as well as a founding member and current President of the Global Facilitator Service Corps.

 

Timothy Karpoff
Tim has over 30 years of experience in community and organizational development, strategic planning, and multi-sector collaboration. A graduate of Yale University, Tim worked for 16 years as a regional director and vice president of the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) in the U.S. and Southeast Asia, organizing community-based programs and facilitating strategic planning and team building processes with businesses and government agencies.

For the past 14 years, Tim has focused on bringing quality and depth to public and organizational planning processes. Starting from the assumption that people and groups have the capacity to shape their future, he designs and facilitates processes that promote participation in decision making, robust conversations, and better meetings. Tim works with a wide range of organizations, facilitating a variety of planning processes, construction partnering meetings, and task forces on resource management issues.

Tim is a founding member of Global Facilitator Service Corps and currently serves as Vice President of GFSC’s Board of Directors. Karpoff & Associates is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

 

Marieann Shovlin
Marieann is the founder of Peak Process, a company dedicated to optimizing organizational performance through collaborative processes, quality systems, and achieving continuous improvement goals. Her 25 years working in high technology as a senior manager and consultant has helped many organizations find solutions based in Systems and TQM theoretical foundations. Marieann uses the Institute of Cultural Affair's ToP® Group Facilitation Methods.

Marieann designs participative, efficient and effective processes to improve business and organization functions. She capitalizes on the connection between participation and improving business and communication processes. She is able to galvanize groups around creating and committing to new processes that measurably improve performance.

Marieann also designs and delivers training programs in quality management, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement for industry and non-profits. Some recent projects with for profit and non-profit organizations including Equinix, Parents Helping Parents, Resumix, Covalent Technologies and GFSC workshops in Phoenix, Baltimore and Oakland.

Marieann is past Chair of the International Association of Facilitators (IAF), a Senior Member and Executive Board member of ASQ (American Society for Quality, Silicon Valley Section) and Secretary of Global Facilitator Service Corps, Inc.

 

BJ Diamond
BJ has held many diverse positions in education, urban planning, fund-raising and communications. She specializes in listening to clients, designing creative solutions, coordinating and managing projects. For more than 15 years, BJ has been a free-lance writer and editor, developing adult training materials; writing and editing newsletters, books and articles; designing workshops and presentations.

BJ has been actively involved with Global Facilitator Service Corps since it was a glimmer in the eyes of the founding members. As part-time Executive Director, BJ uses all her skills and experience to support the mission and expand the efforts of GFSC.
