We support culturally appropriate processes of facilitation and mentoring that enable communities and organizations to help themselves as well as contribute to the professional development of community leaders, organization leaders and volunteers.
The GFSC Network
Bringing together facilitator volunteers and communities to share knowledge, learning, tools, techniques by sharing resources, mentoring, networking, materials (visit our Virtual Library), webinars and workshops. We support local volunteers in their own communities with materials, training, mentoring and consulting.In some areas, volunteers form local networks to meet the needs and interests of their volunteers and the needs of their communities. GFSC offers guidance and mentoring, materials and resource as well as
- workshops and training; face-to-face and virtual
- a forum for exchanging experiences and knowledge
- coordinating information sharing about projects
- assistance in the selection and preparation of potential volunteers
- contacts with other interested community organizations and supporters
Professional Growth and Development
GFSC focuses on building community resilience and self-reliance in conflict resolution, crisis and disaster intervention and NGO organizational development. GFSC Facilitator-Mentors are experienced GFSC workshop leaders who also train/mentor other facilitators.Our Mentored Pathways program with access to resource materials and providing regular communication with skilled, experienced mentors is available to help volunteers improve their existing skills. This program is currently available in English and Spanish.

How You Can Participate
Your involvement with GFSC can make a difference in your community.
Here are some examples of how you can help create community capacity
- Prepare facilitators for disaster and crisis intervention before disaster strikes.
- Help a local community resolve its conflicts and work together for community improvement.
- Coordinate the development of a volunteer network in your community.
- Finance a leadership development program in migrant or refugee communities.
- Participate in and/or sponsor a GFSC project to fulfill your company's
Corporate Social Responsibility objectives.- Help professionals in a local government agency develop strategies and skills
to address unfunded mandated government programs.- Offer your specific professional skills to GFSC and its networks
